There wasn't a heat protocol in effect in Amsterdam on Wednesday, but the Municipal Health Service (GGD) did share tips on how best to cope with the heat. But not all Amsterdammers agreed with that advice. "It's a lovely day, my gauge says about 36 degrees. All your stress melts away!" says a regular visitor to Vondelpark. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advised, among other things, to avoid the sun between noon and 4 p.m. "Then we'll stay here for an hour and go into the shade," said a sunbather in the park. "If you go out in the sun, it's your own responsibility, right?" another added. "I put on plenty of sunscreen." Drinking Another piece of advice, of course, is to drink plenty. And preferably no alcohol. One visitor to Vondelpark adheres to this fairly well ("I limit myself to two beers"), but for others, this is more difficult. "Madam, I'm an alcoholic.
