We have been living less than an hour from Alcamo for almost a year now. Yet somehow, every time we planned a new video, there always seemed to be another destination that made it onto the filming schedule first. After finally spending more time here, we realised we may have completely underestimated this city. 😊 In this video, we explore Alcamo, its historic centre, the Castle of the Counts of Modica, the contemporary art museum, the local wine culture and of course Alcamo Marina. What surprised us most was how alive the city feels. We expected a pleasant Sicilian town with a beautiful centre and strong wine traditions. Instead, we found stylish cafés, busy streets, modern businesses and a place that feels much more vibrant than we imagined. One thing that quickly becomes obvious in Alcamo is its connection to wine. The famous Alcamo DOC was one of Sicily's earliest protected wine designations and vineyards continue to shape the surrounding landscape today. 🍇 We also visited the Castle of the Counts of Modica, learned more about the area's history and explored the contemporary art museum, both of which were free to visit during our trip. For anyone considering moving to Sicily, retiring in Sicily or buying property in Sicily, Alcamo is an area that deserves far more attention than it usually receives. It offers authentic Sicilian life, proximity to the sea, easy access to Palermo and surprisingly accessible property prices compared to many of Sicily's most famous destinations. 🏡 Of course, we also share the less glamorous side of the experience, including our adventures navigating Alcamo's narrow streets and searching for parking. 🚗 Have you visited Alcamo? Vždy se našlo nějaké jiné místo, které vypadalo zajímavější. Po dni stráveném v Alcamu jsme ale zjistili, že jsme toto město možná dost podcenili. 😊 V tomto videu prozkoumáme historické centrum Alcama, navštívíme Hrad hrabat z Modiky, muzeum současného umění, podíváme se na místní vinařskou tradici a samozřejmě zavítáme i do Alcamo Marina. Nejvíce nás překvapilo, jak živě město působí. Očekávali jsme příjemné sicilské město s krásným centrem a dlouhou vinařskou historií. Místo toho jsme objevili stylové kavárny, rušné ulice, moderní podniky a atmosféru, která působí mnohem dynamičtěji, než jsme čekali. Alcamo je úzce spojeno s vínem. Slavné Alcamo DOC patří mezi nejstarší chráněná vinařská označení na Sicílii a vinice dodnes utvářejí krajinu v okolí města. 🍇 Navštívili jsme také Hrad hrabat z Modiky, dozvěděli se více o historii oblasti a prohlédli si muzeum současného umění. Obě místa byla během naší návštěvy zdarma. Pokud zvažujete stěhování na Sicílii, koupi nemovitosti na Sicílii nebo vás jednoduše zajímá každodenní život na ostrově, Alcamo si podle nás zaslouží mnohem více pozornosti, než se mu běžně dostává.
