Haus der Kunst 1937

This is an edit of the opening of the German House of Art in 1937, with some footage of the parade which commenced before the opening “two thousand years of German culture”. “Die Bereitschaft” was made in 1939 thoughbeit. Much of the art from the exhibits displayed in the German House of Art have been destroyed. Many were taken by the American military. many works were returned to Germany in the 1980’s, where they remain in storage, inaccessible to the general public. The U.S Army War Art Collection in Washington contains confiscated portraits of Hitler and other National Socialist leaders, among other works.
