Fog, Cable Cars and the Golden Gate - Is This San Francisco in 2130

Come chase the fog with me across one full day in future San Francisco, from a pink dawn above the clouds to a soft foggy midnight by the bay. We start on a hilltop floating over a sea of fog, ride a reborn silent cable car down into the glow, and grab coffee and warm sourdough at the Ferry Building. We climb California Street by cable car, wander Chinatown for dim sum and North Beach for espresso, then take in the wild parrots at Coit Tower and walk the flower-buried curves of Lombard Street. The fog burns off to bright blue by midday: Fisherman's Wharf, the barking sea lions of Pier 39, a clam chowder sourdough bowl, the Palace of Fine Arts, and then the Golden Gate Bridge itself, huge and red in the wind. The afternoon is all coast, the Presidio forest, Lands End cliffs, the Sutro Baths ruins and a foggy Ocean Beach, then the calm of Golden Gate Park, the Japanese Tea Garden, colorful Haight-Ashbury, the Painted Ladies at golden hour, the joyful Castro, and the Mission for murals and the city's famous burrito. We watch sunset from Dolores Park and Twin Peaks as the fog rolls home and the lights come on, then dance through the night from a Mission salsa floor to a North Beach jazz club to a foggy SoMa rooftop, glide a last cable car down to the water, and say goodnight under the Bay Bridge lights. This is a bright, green, bold year-2130 San Francisco that kept its hills, its fog, its cable cars and its soul, and I loved every hour of it.
