Raja Mahe Pasi In the latter half of the fourteenth century, during the reign of Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq in Delhi, a small republic existed in Godwa Rohaniya, a short distance from the Unchahar Municipality of Raebareli district, ruled by Raja Mahe Pasi. Mahe Pasi was a valiant warrior and possessed immense organizational skills. He gathered a powerful army and established his own independent kingdom in Godwa Rohanian. He defeated the Newari king in battle. This victory granted him a large area of ​​the Newari kingdom. Due to the betrayal of some local traitors, Raja Mahe Pasi engaged in a fierce battle with the forces of Delhi Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq, in which Raja Mahe Pasi attained martyrdom. This battle took place in 1374 AD. Raja Mahe Pasi's reign lasted from 1350 AD to 1374 AD. The ruins of his fort still remain scattered throughout Godwa Rohanian. Due to lack of conservation, this historical heritage of the Pasi dynasty is on the verge of extinction. Two magnificent gates lead into the fort, these gates were later built in honor of King Mahe Pasi. A magnificent statue of the king can be seen inside the fort. Mahe Pasi was a contemporary of Firoz Shah Tughlaq, and during his reign, the people lived a prosperous life. The fort also houses a very ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Durga. Locals say that the king was a devotee of Goddess Durga. The temple holds remarkable features; invaders attempted to destroy and alter the idols. The temple houses an ancient pillar, which locals call the king's staff, which is remarkable. The pillar also bears some ancient inscriptions in ancient script, and it is said that it rotates on its own at night. The Archaeological Department team attempted to solve this remarkable mystery but failed. The fort also boasts a remarkable well from which both wine and water flow. The well has now been filled up. The fort's landscape is truly beautiful and captivating. Many people from Kaushambi and Fatehpur districts come here for darshan. A grand three-day fair is also held here in the month of October.
