The Disgusting Crimes Of The Commandant of Auschwitz.

At the Nuremberg Trials following the end of the Second World War, the true crimes of the Nazis and the Third Reich were uncovered. Rudolf Höss the Commandant of Auschwitz, who had overseen the mass murder of over 1 million people was brought to trial shockingly as a defence witness. He admitted the true murderous intent of the Holocaust, and he eventually was sentenced to death and was executed on a specially made gallows inside his former concentration camp. Rudolf Höss' crimes were endless. He had a long career within the SS and worked in many different concentration camps before he became the Commandant of Auschwitz. Höss worked at Sachsenhausen where he became the second in command, and was in charge of a firing squad that executed hundreds of people and he too shot many with his own pistol. But he was then asked to research the creation of a huge concentration camp in Poland, and following this was appointed as the Commandant of Auschwitz. The camp he oversaw became truly colossal in its scale and its deadly mission to exterminate those whom the Nazis wished to kill. Höss oversaw the creation of the gas chambers at Auschwitz, and continued to massacre thousands of people a day. The conditions in the camp were violent and barbaric, and Höss was the one in charge of this. He was responsible for the guards such as Irma Grese who were incredibly sadistic. Höss was removed from command inside Auschwitz, but he then returned to oversee the mass murder of over 400,000 people the following year. After the end of the war, he was brought to trial in Poland and was sentenced to death. He believed initially he had murdered over 2 and a half million people, but later revised the death toll to around 1 million.
