IKATO SWU ACCUSED NSCN-IM OF RUNNING ALCOHOL SYNDICATES

Senior NSCN-IM leader Ikato Chishi Swu, son of co-founder Isak Chishi Swu, has exited the group to join its Myanmar-based eastern faction led by HS Ramsan and Absalom Raman. Citing a lack of direction and failure in leadership, Swu said the NSCN-IM had strayed from the Naga cause, and the peace talks have yielded no results since the 1997 ceasefire. He accused the current leadership of corruption, compromise, and being influenced by intelligence agencies. Swu also criticized the Centre for failing to implement the 2015 Framework Agreement. His departure is seen as a major blow to the Naga peace process. .
