Caribbean Jam — Double Vision Jazz Ensemble | Eddie Durham Latin Tune, arr. Hank Hehmsoth
Double Vision Jazz Ensemble performs Eddie Durham’s “Caribbean Jam,” arranged by Hank Hehmsoth, live at Texas Music Museum in Austin, Texas, during the Eddie Durham Tribute on June 21, 2026. “Caribbean Jam” is one of Eddie Durham’s few Latin, non-swing tunes. Built from a compact four-bar riff, the piece becomes the basis for Hank Hehmsoth’s expanded arrangement, moving through a variety of textures and settings while keeping Durham’s rhythmic spark at the center. This performance features James Fenner on percussion and connects Durham’s Texas jazz legacy with Double Vision’s contemporary arranging, improvisation, and live ensemble sound. Recorded in the intimate, memorabilia-filled setting of Texas Music Museum, the performance captures the close-up energy of a live museum concert surrounded by Texas music history. Presented by H Project Performing Arts Association and Double Vision Jazz Ensemble. This project is supported in part by an Elevate Grant of Austin Arts, Culture, Music, & Entertainment.
