Charles & Ron “Siparju, Fall/Winter 2026/27 collection, an evocative fashion presentation inspired by the timeless grandeur and layered cultural memory of Teatru Manoel. For this season, the designers move beyond the traditional runway format to stage a living dialogue between fashion and theatre, a celebration of performance, artistry, and storytelling. Taking its name from the Maltese word for theatre curtain, Siparju reflects the moment before a performance begins, the anticipation, mystery, and transformation that occur when the curtain rises. Within the historic theatre, one of Europe’s oldest working playhouses, the collection unfolds as a visual narrative where garments become characters and the stage becomes a canvas. Continuing their tradition of developing original textiles, Charles & Ron introduce in-house designed graphic prints inspired by architectural and decorative elements of the theatre itself. Motifs reinterpret the ornate ceiling paintings, the iconic chandelier, the theatrical stage, hand-painted decorative details, and the graceful draping of the curtains, translating the spirit of the space into contemporary fashion. The colour palette draws directly from the theatre’s opulent interior. Rich shades of baroque gold, warm browns, soft beige and green are contrasted with rust tones and deep reds reminiscent of velvet curtains, alongside touches of black, echoing the dramatic atmosphere of the stage and the intimacy of the auditorium. A carefully curated selection of fabrics enhances this theatrical vision. Ethereal organza and flowing chiffon create movement and lightness, while sumptuous velvet, faux fur and structured wool introduce depth and warmth for the winter season. Many pieces are enriched with delicate beading and small paillets, adding subtle luminosity that reflects the glow of stage lights and chandeliers. Accessories also play an integral role within the collection. Real leather handbags designed by Charles & Ron complement the garments, while C&R jewellery pieces add refined accents, echoing the elegance and embellishment of theatrical costume. Siparju arrives at a time when the world faces uncertainty and upheaval. Throughout history, fashion, art, and theatre have served as powerful forms of expression, voices for change, hope, and reflection. They also offer moments of beauty and escape, reminding us of art’s power to uplift, unite, and inspire even during challenging times. Directed by Marta Vella, the show features performances by Destiny, Jasmine Abela, Sean Borg, Clare Agius, Analise Mifsud, and Brenda Lee Grech, further strengthening the connection between fashion and the performing arts.
