Ian Chang is a master of nuanced percussion and in an effort reproduce certain modern production techniques often applied to drums, Ian has come up with some tricks to transform the acoustic sound of his drums. Whether it is that gated reverb sound made famous by Phil Collins in the 80's, the side-chained compression sound commonly heard in modern hip hop and EDM, or that reverse swell before a drum hit; Ian Chang has found ways to mimic it acoustically, in realtime.
