There are many approaches to PGM refining all depending on what's in your solution. The left-over material from silver refining may include, gold, platinum, palladium, iridium, and maybe even some rhodium. It all depends on what you run through the silver cell to begin with. My approach includes using reagents such as sodium borohydride, dimethylglyoxime, and ammonia chloride. With proper testing using stannous chloride, and a few other methods, you will be well on your way to learning all about Platinum Group Metals and how to capture your free metal. I purchased all of the material in this video at silver prices but I received free gold and palladium when I refined the silver slimes. Much of our jewelry, mostly older pieces, will have some platinum group metals combined into them as an alloy to harden the metal and to make the silver tarnish slower.
