CM Revanth Reddy: Govt Will Restore the Damaged Kaleshwaram Project with Expert Support | Telangana

The Telangana Government is taking steps to restore the Kaleshwaram project with the support of experts, ensuring that the people of the state do not suffer due to technical and quality issues, Hon'ble Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy said. He stated that the project, built with more than ₹1 lakh crore of public funds, will be strengthened, and added that the government is ready for a detailed discussion on the project’s present status through a joint session of the Assembly. A PowerPoint presentation on irrigation projects, particularly the construction issues and current status of the Kaleshwaram project, was held at Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad. Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Sri Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers, public representatives and senior officials participated in the meeting. The Chief Minister appreciated Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy for presenting a detailed report based on findings from various agencies. The Chief Minister stated that the Pranahita-Chevella project was redesigned later, resulting in increased estimates, and that issues emerged due to shortcomings in planning, design, construction and maintenance. He highlighted that various reports pointed out lapses in quality standards and compliance with required norms during the construction of the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages. The government is undertaking restoration measures for structures including the Medigadda barrage and Kannepalli pump house with expert guidance, the Chief Minister said.
