Summer vs Flood Level: Discover the Eye Opening Difference on the Ottawa River
High water on the Ottawa river almost broke records this year. The level reached 31.5 on the Shaggy Designs River Gauge!! By early July the level had fallen to its normal summer levels of -0.25 on the Shaggy Gauge. Summer levels are very popular for the world class play spots that are available on the Ottawa River. When the River is in flood stage . . . there isn't much freestyle spots . . . but loads of big water fun. We do a direct comparison between what it is like to Whitewater Kayak the Ottawa River Main channel at both Flood Levels and Summer Levels. Coliseum Rapid is huge, Garburator Wave is completely washed out at flood level but prime at Summer levels.
