Born in Tokushima, he graduated from Waseda University and worked at the Ministry of Communications' Electrical Testing Laboratory. Alongside this, he wrote and submitted detective novels, making his debut as a writer in 1928 with the detective novel "The Mysterious Death in the Electric Bath." After World War II, he was purged from public office as a wartime collaborator, and in 1946, his friend Oguri Mushitaro died. Around this time, his health gradually deteriorated, including coughing up blood.
