The New Deal - FDR's Revolutionary First 100 Days!
LESSON PLANS for this Episode: https://www.history4humans.com/collec... President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal and especially his first 100 days in office were some of the most transformative in all of American history. This episode teaches the story of how FDR's New Deal tried to combat the Great Depression and heal the soul of the nation. It covers the depths of depression, the election of 1932, how his first actions to save the banking industry were helped with policies and his fireside chats, an many New Deal programs from the first 100 days including, FERA, CCC, PWA, AAA, TVA, and the NRA. Roosevelt was criticized by some conservatives for being a dictator, but in reality, while dictators like Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini were consolidating power in Europe, Roosevelt's actions helped to preserve America's democratic institutions. For teachers and homeschool parents, I have resources that go with this lesson that include interactive notesheets, a quick quiz, and an extension lesson that has students analyze primary sources, answer quick questions, and then write a letter to a loved as if they lived through the Dust Bowl and migrated to California. It's engaging, fosters critical thinking, and has built in supports to help ensure students are successful but still challenged. There are answer keys for everything. I do hope you enjoy it, dan :) www.history4humans.com
