Felting 15 Years Old Wool into a Bag - How will it go?

In this video I am attempting to wet felt a 15 year old (at least) mystery wool into a bag. I had no idea what this wool was because it was in my stash from a very long time… and it had either lost its label or never had one in the first place. It could be wool from some breed of sheep or it might be alpaca. I have no way to find out, but I tried felting it anyway. This is what this channel is about: using up what I already have — kg after kg of wool for felting, spinning, and knitting — without buying anything new. Old wool doesn't always felt easily. It loses its natural oils over time and it can resist shrinking. So this one was a bit of an experiment. What you'll see in this video: Wet felting a bag from aged wool Felting a cable How old wool behaves differently during the felting process Felting te bag itself Adding needle-felted decoration (small wading bird tracks) to a finished wet-felted piece If you have old wool hiding in a drawer — this one's for you.🐑 Wool and Embers Studio — the whole life of wool.
