Lenny Breau Explains How He Met Chet Atkins. Lenny & Chet Play Two Songs on Nashville TV Show: 1982
In 1982, Lenny Breau was in Nashville to work on his instruction book with John Knowles. His close friend and musical colleague Chet Atkins had been scheduled to perform on a Telethon to raise money for arthritis research during this time and asked Lenny to play with him on the show. Lenny agreed to appear and the men played two songs together: 'Sweet Georgia Brown' and 'This Can't Be Love'. Chet and Lenny had recorded the latter a year earlier on their RCA release 'Standard Brands'. Preceding the video is an excerpt from an interview Lenny did for CBC Radio in Toronto in which he discussed Chet's musical influence on him as a young guitarist and the events that led to him finally meet Chet in the late 1960s. Note: The audio quality of the video is reasonably good but the visual quality is poor, particularly the first minute or so. Hopefully the excellence of the music makes up for this. 1.
