The statements made by the president of the People's Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, regarding absenteeism and sick leave have sparked an intense political and social debate. While the leader of the People's Party described absenteeism as a "cancer" for the economy and questioned why a worker on sick leave should receive the same pay as when they are working, the left and unions accused him of calling into question a workers' right. In this context, Libre Mercado went out into the streets to find out what citizens think. Although the responses reflect a diversity of opinions, the majority of citizens agree on one idea: sick leave is a right when it is justified, but there is also great concern about potential abuses and the impact it has on colleagues and companies.
