Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Fusion at C3-4, C4-5 & C5-6

This animation depicts the anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) at C3-4, C4-5 and C5-6. Disc material is extracted from the disc space between the vertebrae using rongeurs to prepare for drilling of the C3-4, C4-5 and C5-6 end plates. After the discectomy and foraminotomy are completed, an implant is inserted into the C3-4, C4-5 and C5-6 disc spaces. Finally a plate with screws is placed over the cages, stabilizing the vertebrae.
