Last year on our trip to Rome, we decided to take a day trip to Tivoli to see Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana, otherwise known as Hadrian's Villa! This is such an easy excursion from Rome and one I highly recommend if you have an extra day on your Rome trip. Tivoli was a popular choice for villas and rural retreats for Roman rulers since ancient times for its milder climate and picturesque views.
