Joe Power - The Mall of Lismore
This is an interesting song which Joe got from one of the county’s unsung heroes, Jimmy Coffey, who is now in his mid-nineties. It’s a classic warning song which tells the story of a young woman who fell in love with a soldier. In this case, he was in the British Army and as a result she was disowned by her father. Needless to say, in the song the soldier is sent away, never to return and the young woman is left shunned and carrying his child. ............................................................................................
