5-Month Review of the Naturnest Rooftop Tent: Comfort, Convenience, and a Few Challenges
After five months of using the Naturnest Rooftop Tent on countless overlanding trips, I can confidently say that it’s an incredible addition to my rig. Here’s a breakdown of my experience, including the highs and a few challenges. What I Love About the Naturnest Tent 1. Spacious Interior: One of my favorite features is how big and roomy the tent is inside. It doesn’t feel claustrophobic, even for extended stays. Whether it’s rain, high winds, or a storm outside, I always feel safe and secure inside this tent. 2. Panoramic Views: The tent comes equipped with four windows that provide a 360-degree vantage point, which is perfect for soaking in scenic landscapes while camping. Waking up to breathtaking views is something I look forward to every time I use it. 3. Quick Setup: Setting up this tent is a breeze. With just four latches and a quick push, the tent pops up in as little as 20 to 40 seconds. It’s fast and efficient, which is especially useful after a long day of driving or exploring. A Few Issues and Challenges 1. Rain Fly and Awning Conflict: While the tent is mostly hassle-free, I did encounter issues when trying to open the rain fly on the driver’s side. The 270-degree awning interferes with the rain fly poles, making them hard to insert into the tent. It’s a minor issue but something to keep in mind if you have similar gear. 2. Tricky Takedown: Unfortunately, breaking down the tent isn’t as easy as setting it up. It’s a bit of a struggle to close it by yourself. You need to loosely latch each corner, then go around stuffing the fabric back inside, which can take some time. The tent fabric tends to puff out due to trapped air, requiring multiple trips around the tent to stuff and re-stuff it before securing the latches tightly. 3. No Roof Rack: While it’s called a “hard top,” the roof is actually made of PVC, which limits its ability to carry extra gear. I really wish the tent had a roof rack to strap down additional equipment, as some other rooftop tents do. This would make the tent even more versatile for overlanding. Final Thoughts Overall, the Naturnest Rooftop Tent is fantastic for the price. It’s comfortable, spacious, and handles rough weather exceptionally well. Despite a few challenges, particularly with takedown and the lack of gear storage on the roof, I still highly recommend this tent for anyone looking for comfort and ease in their overlanding adventures. It’s well worth the investment!
