Spoil bank and dump || Opencast mining OB dump

Here in this video we have discussed about various provisions regarding spoil banks and dumps. As per CMR 2017 1. Topsoil shall be stocked separately so that it can be used in reclamation phase 2. Slope angle of soil Bank shall not exceed angle of repose for 37.5 degree 3. Whenever the height of spoil Bank exceed 30m dumping shall be done with the formation of benches 4. The toe of spoil Bank shall not be extended within 100 of any Roadways, Railways, public works or any other structure which is not belonging to the owner 5. Suitable fencing shall be erected between active spoil bank and Railways, Roadways, public works and structure which is not belonging to the owner Various precautionary measures: 1. The floor of overburden dump shall be stable and rough and free from mud 2. Dump shall be properly compacted as and when necessary 3. Sometimes judicious application of bolting,shotcreting etc helps the stability of overburden dump slope 4. Steps to be taken to keep the soil separated so that same can be used to blanket/spary over the slope of dump and also on the top of them. 5.grass bed and plantation has to be made on the soils thereafter to consolidate the former 6. Peizometers shall be installed wherever required to determine the water pressure building within the dump 7. Toe wall constructed all around the dump to arrest the flow of soil. 8.
