Christianity & Judaism: What's the Difference?

Christianity and Judaism share a unique relationship unlike any other religions in the world. ✅Jesus was Jewish. ✅His disciples were Jewish. ✅The earliest Christians were Jewish. ✅And the Scriptures they read were Jewish. In many ways, Christianity didn't emerge in opposition to Judaism—it emerged from it. So if Christianity and Judaism share the same roots, the same Scriptures, and the same hope for a Messiah... Why do they arrive at such different conclusions? It’s because each has a different view of who Jesus is. First, let’s unpack the 📖 5 CORE BELIEFS OF JUDAISM 1️⃣ ONE GOD: Judaism is fiercely monotheistic. From Abraham to Moses to today, Jewish people have believed in one God. 2️⃣ THE TORAH: The Torah—God's instruction and teaching—is at the center of Jewish life and faith. For Christians, this is known as the Old Testament. 3️⃣ THE COVENANT: Judaism teaches that God entered into a special covenant relationship with His people and remains faithful to His promises. 4️⃣ ISRAEL: Israel is both a people and a promise—a story deeply connected to God's work throughout history. 5️⃣ THE MESSIAH: The promised deliverer, king, and redeemer who would restore God's people and fulfill His promises. And this is where the biggest difference emerges. ✡️ Judaism is still waiting for the Messiah. ✝️ Christianity believes the Messiah has come. 🤔 WHY DON'T MOST JEWISH PEOPLE ACCEPT JESUS AS THE MESSIAH? Many Jewish people ask a sincere question: "If Jesus is the Messiah, why is the world still broken?" Why is there still suffering? Why isn't there peace on earth? Why don't we see all the promises of the prophets fulfilled? Christians answer that question differently. They believe the Messiah comes twice: 👉 First as a Suffering Servant. 👉 Later as a Conquering King. First to deal with sin. Later to make all things new. ✝️ THE CHRISTIAN BELIEF Christians do not believe Jesus replaced Judaism. They believe He fulfilled it. The Law. The Prophets. The Covenants. The Sacrifices. The Priesthood. The Promises. Christians believe every part of the story ultimately points to Jesus Christ. At the end of the day, the greatest difference between Judaism and Christianity isn't a holiday, tradition, or religious practice. It's Jesus. Judaism is still waiting for the Messiah. Christianity believes the Messiah has come. Which means every conversation ultimately comes back to one question: Who is Jesus?
