Sir Francis Drake's Golden Hind
I narrate a short chapter from my booklet "Sir Francis Drake and the Golden Hind" with the aim to educate even the most knowledgeable reader, from adjacent to the present-day reconstruction in London. The ship is located at St Mary Overie Dock across the River Thames from where Drake lived at the Herbery from late 1588: the site is beneath Canon Street train station. Drake's Golden Hind was moored at the Tower of London to disgorge some of the treasure from the world voyage. It was berthed at Deptford, aboard which, Queen Elizabeth had Drake knighted. The remains of the ship probably lie beneath open concrete at Convoys Wharf, Deptford.
