HOW TO FILL IN AN ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION CONDITION REPORT (EICR)

One of the jobs an electrician has to do is paperwork...and there is a lot of it. The Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), which used to be known as a Periodic Inspection is a long document that has to be filled in whenever an inspection needs to be carried out on a domestic, commercial or industrial property. Note: Remedial Work found as a result of the inspection can only be a recommendation for domestic properties. Since 2021 they are a mandatory requirement for landlords in order to rent out a property. An EICR should only be carried out by an electrician who has passed C&G 2391, is a member of a Competent Persons Scheme and has the correct insurance. If you are unsure contact NICEIC, NAPIT or any other CPS and check the electricians credentials. This long document has some confusing entries for new electricians and I hope to at least make some sense of it all.
