Sony is killing the disc – and taking away a piece of our control over our games. Starting in January 2028, new PlayStation games will no longer be released on disc. For many, this might sound like the logical next step toward a digital future. But for me, it's primarily another step away from true ownership, away from reselling, away from collecting, and away from the freedom to decide for ourselves how we want to buy and keep our games.
