The closest thing to a Gagauzia documentary that you will see on YouTube :P The Gagauzian are a Turkic nation, who have their own language, but are formed as an Autonomous Territorial Unit within Moldova. Despite being Turks (as they define themselves), they practice Orthodox Christianity, which is why they say they had to flee the Ottoman Empire towards the territories offered to them by the Russian Empire within Bessarabia in the 19th century. Nostalgic for the USSR, the Gagauz mostly speak Russian in their daily lives and feel great sympathy for Russia. But a new actor has arrived on the scene: Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has landed with his millions ready to expand Turkish influence in this region, a fact that surprisingly pleases both the Gagauzians and the Chisinau government itself... In this second chapter, touring the Gagauz territory, we pay a tremendous tribute in one of the Comrat wineries. We will taste all kinds of wines with the help of a magnificent woman. A true professional who explained to us and made us feel devotion towards those gagauz broths. After the tasting and pairing, a wonderful party was formed with music from that part of the world where we had a great time. Moldova in general is a wine producing region. The next day we traveled south, to the city of Vulcanești, to take a walk through the deepest part, of the deepest nation, within the most forgotten country in all of Europe. Almost nothing!
