Here, we would like to introduce to farmers how to recognize and prevent blood parasites in buffalo and cows. Causes of the disease Cystorrhea occurs in almost all livestock farming areas in Vietnam from the Delta, the Mountainous region to the Midlands and even in the Coastal region. In which, in the Mountainous region, this type of disease has the highest rate due to insects such as flies and gnats causing the disease. In addition, due to the poor farming practices of ethnic minorities in the Mountainous region compared to other regions, the Cystorrhea disease in this region has the highest rate, followed by the Midlands and finally the Delta region. Signs of recognition When cattle are infected with the disease, it usually occurs in two forms, the first is the acute form, the second is the chronic form. In the acute form, cattle often have a high fever of 41 - 41.7 degrees Celsius with neurological symptoms such as collapse, roaring, walking in circles, sick cattle will die very quickly after 7 - 15 days. In the chronic form, the clinical symptoms are milder and the disease lasts from 1 - 2 months, the animal becomes thinner and thinner, the skin is dry and moldy, the mucous membranes of the eyes are purple and sometimes have blood spots, tears and the eyes have a lot of thick discharge, conjunctivitis is pale yellow or dark, health gradually weakens, poor appetite, poor chewing, constipation with blood or loose stools with a foul smell, sometimes the animal defecates with broken intestines in sections, often seen swelling in the neck, throat, chest, armpits, legs, groin. In severe cases, the animal suddenly has a high fever, a distended abdomen, and then dies. Disease prevention and treatment People need to clean up around the barn by clearing away bushes, filling in puddles and drains around the barn so that disease-causing insects have no place to live and develop. Regularly check and care for the cattle herd, clean up manure and garbage around the barn, install water holes and puddles so that insects cannot cause disease. Check the blood of cattle and buffalo regularly every 6 months in areas with disease to detect it in time and take preventive measures.
