A: If you’re talking Replay, then my i put my render scale up to 200% and enabled anti-aliasing. If you’re talking Remaster or the PSP original, then don’t worry, since except for the drum icons (arrows here) nothing so far has been changed to the point of making a difference. Q: Keyboard or controller? A: I recommend controller, it feels much more intuitive and the game supports it as well. You change the keybinds in the settings. Q: What about difficulty? A: I wasn’t entirely aware the difficulty settings change the game itself and not timings, unlike in Patapon 2. I mistakenly played on Easy up until the 6th mission, but I recommend picking it up on normal. Though, no shame in either choices. There is also hard, but if you’re here than I don’t really expect that to be in question haha. Q: Do I have to make my army similar to yours? A: No, it’s up to you. You can, of course, try and replicate what you see here but I find that each Patapon savefile is its own story. Material drops and weapons are somewhat random, and it depends on what army you’ll want to build. So far, everything I’ve done is just making sure I can get through a mission relatively quickly. If it works for you, then be my guest :) Q: I can’t find any branches! What am I supposed to do? A: Branches are scarce at the beginning of this game, which is kind of weird. Best bet is to try the minigame presented here as it sometimes gives you the items, or fight Dodonga/Majidonga, as its part of their drops. Q: How do I make better patapons (rarepons)? A: Through combining higher level materials in Mater. You’ll get access to better tiers as the game goes on, or, alternatively, you can try and grind the bosses if you REALLY want to be overpowered. A: Help! I’m stuck on a mission! Q: You could always nudge the difficulty settings, or strengthen your army in numbers or rarepons :) Q: Your team seems to upgrade itself between missions? How does that happen? A: Hunting missions are the cream of the crop when it comes to ka-ching and some materials. The very first mission (Hunting on Patata Plain) can be repeated, wielding about 100-200 ka-ching each time. Q: I can’t get through the desert! What do I do? A: Fight Majidonga through first finding his compass on Patata Plain, as Meden explains in game. He gives you the rain Juju, which allows you to cross the desert without taking damage. Q: Can you cross the desert without fighting Majidonga? A: This is something I’m not really sure of, but the simplest answer could be asking yourself, why would you want to struggle through the constant damage? I mean, pretty sure there is a way but Hatapon would falter even if the rest of your army somehow makes it through. Q: What happens when I try and cross the desert without the Juju? A: Your army burns when reaching the red skeletal remains (or when the ground has a red tint). You can barely see this in the video, since I activated the Juju just in time, though you can spot a few of those eruptions when some of my army is still in the red part. Q: Music, I need the music. Where can I find these songs? A: If you’re looking for a specific song in each mission, the wiki’s best call (though I’m against Fandom’s practices). That, or you can look back at my old Patapon 1 playthrough, since each level has its corresponding soundtrack noted in the description. Q: More on the technical side, how’s the input delay? A: It depends on the monitor, but it’s almost unnoticeable, barely even there, MUCH better than in the remaster. You can also tweak anything related to it in the settings. Q: Any way to get better weapons? A: Patapon 1 is the one game in the franchise where they’re scarce. You get a good few from Zigoton attacks, but grinding them requires fighting bosses, but they are rare drops. All in all, if a mission doesn’t give you what you hoped for, you can always restart it before it ends. (the rest will be in the pinned comment) Please leave any other questions in the comments :) I’ll put the answers both the replies and here as well.
