Neoplasias Mieloproliferativas em foco com a Profa. Dra. Lorena Pontes

The "Inside Research" series presents the lecture "Myeloproliferative Neoplasms: Challenges and Scientific Advances," given by Professor Dr. Lorena de Figueiredo Pontes, from the Hematology Division of the Department of Medical Imaging, Hematology and Clinical Oncology at the Ribeirão Preto Faculty of Medicine (FMRP-USP). The professor is a supervisor in the Postgraduate Program in Clinical Oncology, Stem Cells and Cell Therapy at FMRP-USP and her research focuses on the molecular basis, prognostic factors, regulation of hematopoietic stem cells, and new therapeutic strategies in myeloid neoplasms. During the seminar, the researcher addressed concepts about the origin and diagnosis of the disease (mechanisms and signaling pathways, diagnostic classification), the main clinical challenges (abnormal hematopoiesis and inflammation, thrombosis and hemorrhage, leukemic transformation), and new targets for the control of neoplastic myeloproliferation. The "Inside Research" series features lectures and classes given by our researchers, which combine concepts and experiences in the areas of cell therapy, oncology, genetics, bioinformatics, hematology, and others that comprise the studies of the institutions. The videos are published bi-weekly, on Fridays, on the CTC-USP social media and on the Hemocentro RP YouTube channel.
