The Complexity of Binge Eating Disorder: Treatment, Symptoms, and Weight-Neutral Approach
Binge eating disorder (BED) is one of the most common eating disorders in the U.S., affecting people of all genders, races, and ages. At the same time, the weight loss industry continues to boom, shaping societal norms and causing some patients and/or their parents to seek weight loss as part of BED treatment. The rise of GLP-1’s have only exacerbated this reality. In addition to providing an overview of binge eating disorder treatment and symptoms, this event discussed an important factor in treatment: weight-neutral approaches and how they can lead to positive outcomes in combination with modalities like CBT-E and FBT.
