This is the revenge match, where Flamengo defeated the glorious Flamengo 6-0, in revenge for the defeat suffered nine years earlier. In 1972, Jairzinho's Botafogo gave the Red-Blacks no respite, winning 6-0. And to make matters worse, the defeat occurred on the club's 77th anniversary. The setback became a source of ridicule in Rio de Janeiro, meaning the 6-0 victory gained a special taste of revenge. In their best year ever, 1981, Flamengo crushed Botafogo at the Maracanã stadium, sending the fans into a frenzy. An important point is that Jairzinho, the only remaining player from 1972, was back on the field for this match. Flamengo's lineup included: Raul, Leandro, Figueiredo, Mozer, and Júnior; Andrade, Adílio, and Zico; Tita, Nunes, and Lico.
