Tracy Part of Artillery Week WW2TV    • Playlist   The SU-85 (Samokhodnaya ustanovka 85) was a Soviet self-propelled gun, based on the chassis of the famous T-34 medium tank. We will talk about their role as assault guns, tank hunters and tank destroyers along with other models such as the SU-76/76M and SU-122. The designation "85" means the calibre of the gun - the 85 mm D-5T. J. R. Tracy graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1987, and embarked on a thirty-year career in finance that took him around the world. Now retired, he focuses his time on his hobbies of history, gaming, and writing, with an emphasis on 20th century conflicts as well as present-day security issues. He splits his time between New York City and the Hudson Valley, along with his wife, childrens’ author Elizabeth Tracy.
