The Voronezh Aviation Center (VUAC) flight school for teenagers held its graduation ceremony. Fourteen students made it into the first cohort. No one in Voronezh, or anywhere else, has ever celebrated their graduation so spectacularly. For their sake, the parachutists performed aerial evacuations—a type of canopy aerobatic maneuver. They also literally painted the sky with multicolored smoke while descending at a speed of approximately 5 meters per second. The show was a gift to the first graduates of the young aviators' school. It opened at the Voronezh Aviation Center. It's the only project of its kind in the country, created, incidentally, by enthusiasts who love the sky. They trained the high school students free of charge. They welcomed them into the large flying family and launched them into professional life with impressive flair. Where else can you see a parachutist being winched out of the sky so close? It's done in the mountains or over forests—basically, in places where a helicopter can't land. By the way, there are two girls in the graduating class. Veronika Meremyanina chose the cockpit as her workplace as a child. She dreams of becoming a civil aviation pilot, who are trained in St. Petersburg and Ulyanovsk. She says the lessons she learned in the air will remain with her forever. "It sank into my heart when our instructor allowed us to climb high into the sky and fly straight into a cloud, and then we flew in a pair with another plane. Stereotypes are always there. But our recruitment also showed that girls can sometimes be better at something than boys. We held up well, all the guys were great. And our girls fall in love with the sky more than the boys," Veronika Meremyanina said. The first cohort included 14 lucky schoolchildren, the youngest in eighth grade. Half of those accepted ultimately receive a sort of ticket to the sky—diplomas and pilot's logbooks. Experts say the attrition rate is roughly the same at flight schools. Incidentally, young aviators will have an advantage when applying. Teachers and instructors are also honored here – for them, working with such students is also a debut. The aviation center is pleased with the pilot intake, saying they were delighted by the students' determination to overcome adversity and reach for the clouds. Experienced pilots wish the aspiring pilots the most important things. "Clear skies, clear, peaceful skies, may everything be well for them. We will make a decision on further intakes in the summer. We hope for support and assistance in implementing this project. We would, of course, like to work with a larger number.
