Canon EOS 5D Recall Mirror Falls Out Defective Adhesive Possible Lens Damage PSA

Hi guys, this is Joseph Cristina, I'm a commercial pro photographer, inventor of the Focus Pyramid and co-host of the Digital Photography Cafe Show. I have a quick PSA for you today. Canon EOS 5D Defective Mirror Adhesive Recall - Public Service Announcement During a shoot, I heard a BIG clunk and my eyepiece went black. After investigation I found that the camera's mirror had detached and launched into my 70-200IS 2.8 lens. The folks at #Canon have been very helpful and provided an overnight FREE UPS shipping label to return the camera body to replace the mirror and any other repairs needed due to this incident. With the possibility of internal lens damage, the Canon Representative agreed to check and/or fix the 70-200IS 2.8 which was attached when the failure occurred. I will report back as to the final resolution once it's returned. If you have the Canon EOS 5D camera body I would suggest that you call Canon at 1-800-OK-CANON and have this issue addressed as soon as possible. It's my understanding you'll only have until September 30th 2015 to do so!
