A Week of Walks, Vet Visits and Cake Baking Chaos! (Summer Life Update)

It’s been one of those whirlwind weeks where everything happens at once. My nephew Anton came to stay—an absolute joy, but full-on with a little one in the house again. We took him on long walks, introduced him to the animals, and sang our way through the countryside. Rosie, our Labrador pup, has been a dream with him, so gentle and sweet! Coco’s been brilliant helping out at Pony Club, and we're still searching for the right horse. We’ve now seen a couple of promising ones, so fingers crossed. Meanwhile, poor Molly has been in and out of the vet. Scans, nerve blocks, and a possible keyhole surgery coming. It’s all a bit worrying, but we’re taking it step by step. At home, it’s been the usual summer juggle of Mum taxi duties, laundry mountains and meal planning. Coco’s been helping with all of the prep for the Flower Festival, and all the children have been getting involved at home. I think it’s important they have practical skills, so they’ve all had jobs—some are just expected as part of family life, and others they earn a bit of pocket money for. Whether it’s folding laundry, walking the dogs, helping with cooking or even sorting tech problems, they’ve been really helpful. It’s a proper team effort here during the holidays. We had a very stressful moment when Molly, who’s meant to be on restricted movement, managed to get out and took off after Tory. It gave us all a fright, especially considering her current condition. Fortunately no one was hurt, and it’s a clear reminder of how vigilant we need to be while we follow the vet’s advice. Never a dull moment around here that’s for sure!
