Social Justice Advocacy - Lecture 2: The World of Social Justice and People with Disabilities

Second lecture of the online video series of 12 lectures on Practical Skills for Social Justice Advocacy delivered by University of Ottawa Faculty of Law Visiting Professor of Disability Rights David Lepofsky. This lecture introduces the world of advocacy for social justice for people with disabilities. It explores who people with disabilities are, the barriers they face, and the organizational context of the disability community. It also introduces the world of barriers facing students with disabilities in school. This all serves as a foundation for upcoming lectures on how to do effective social justice advocacy. This lecture series is equally useful for law students, and anyone else interested in doing advocacy on social justice issues anywhere around the world. It uses advocacy for students with disabilities as the platform for exploring these issues. It is based on Canadian examples but is relevant in any country. Send feedback to [email protected]
