From Arica to Antofagasta: Through the Atacama Desert (S02E24)

I leave Arica and head south along Chile’s northern coast, riding through one of the driest places on Earth — the Atacama Desert. What I wasn’t prepared for… was just how vast it feels. Mile after mile of sand and empty landscape, stretching in every direction. No trees, no shade — just endless desert. And then, without warning, the road meets the Pacific Ocean. Massive cliffs drop into deep blue water, breaking up the monotony of the desert in a way that almost doesn’t make sense. I continue on through Iquique and down toward Antofagasta, riding one of the most unique coastal routes I’ve experienced so far. It’s harsh, it’s beautiful… and completely unexpected. 📍 Route: Arica → Iquique → Antofagasta 🌵 Atacama Desert landscapes 🌊 Coastal cliffs along the Pacific 🏍️ Bike: Kawasaki KLR 650 Instagram 📷: www.instagram.com/adventureswithoutborders TikTok 🔥: www.tiktok.com/@adventureswithoutborders www.adventureswithoutborders.info #motorcycleadventures #travel #roundtheworld 2018 Kawasaki KLR 650
