High Country Canoe Camping? Plan B Trout for Breakfast a Better Way to Sous Vide? Firebox Nano Stove
My plan was to canoe across this lake to the pines on the far end where I've camped before... I decided to go for plan B. I keep jumping the gun trying to go high country camping. Three weeks ago I almost got my truck stuck in snow... This time I managed to get to the lake only to find it, frozen over, cold and windy. The reason I'm so antsy is because mosquito season comes fast. I want to enjoy that week or two of bug free camping. I'm thinking next week will be the magic time when the ice is melted but the mosquitoes haven't yet hatched in big enough numbers to be a problem. Wish me luck, you can bet I'll be out there trying once again to enjoy the places, I love without those pesky distractions driving me nuts. On this adventure I did my first "Sous Vide" steak! I did mine in avocado oil using the Firebox BOX-POT and the NEW BOX-POT Fryer Basket on the Firebox Nano Stove heated with the Firebox Wood Flame gas Burner. I caught a tiger trout for breakfast and cooked it with bacon and hash brown potatoes in the fire box 8 inch fry pan covered with the 8 inch shallow cowboy plate.
