Shahid Kapoor on film Vivah: "It's an individual story in itself. Love story format has been boy meets girls. This is the first film that deals with an arranged marriage. Two people who do not know each other at all. My character is a bit of a shy side of the film. He's from an upper middle class business family in Delhi. Boy represents the big city sensibilities. Girl represents small town sensibilities. Boy has returned after studying abroad. The relationship brings about a certain confidence in him. Amrita is a very sincere artiste. She's very hard working. It's always great working together again. Suraj ji is directing the film, with Rajshri. We both tried to be as work focused as we could. I think we listened more to Surajji than he listened to us! I was very clear that I wanted to work with Suraj ji, when I came to hear the script. I realized this is the most sensitive film that Surajji has made. As close to reality, as possible.
