What will it take to make Uganda safer for women? | The 77 Percent Street Debate
The UN calls gender-based violence a global human rights emergency — and in Uganda, it's an everyday threat. Nearly 95% of women have experienced some form violence from the age of 15, and too many abusers go unpunished. But young activists, survivors, and community leaders are refusing to stay silent. In this Street Debate, we meet the people fighting for change — and building a safer future. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence or abuse in Uganda, you can reach out to the MIFUMI Domestic Violence Helpline, FIDA Uganda, or the Uganda Police GBV Desk.
