A History of Cartoon Wild Takes

A wild ride through the history of comedic takes and their evolution into wild takes in cartoons and animation. ---------- Some things can be done in animation that simply cannot be replicated in live-action film, and one of them is the wild take, an over-the-top, manic or hysterical anatomically impossible reaction to something unexpected. One of the Twelve Principles of Animation is exaggeration of movement and facial expression, and the wild take represents perhaps the ultimate example of this principle, pushing the traditional take to unrealistic extremes. Today we're taking a look back at the evolution of the take in animation, and how the wild take took off like wild fire after it was codified and perfected in the early 1940s before becoming a staple in animation by the end of the century. ---------- 00:00 - 00:50 - Introduction 00:51 - 01:30 - The "Take" 01:31 - 02:30 - Early prototypes of wild takes 02:31 - 04:47 - Tex Avery at MGM 04:48 - 05:58 - Golden Age wild takes 05:59 - 07:36 - Television era ban 07:37 - 09:06 - '80s resurgence 09:07 - 11:52 - '90s cartoons 11:53 - 12:50 - Conclusion ---------- Buy me a coffee? https://buymeacoffee.com/toonraider SUBSCRIBE for more cartoon history and turn on notifications so you never miss a video. @toonraider123 FACEBOOK:   / toonraiderofficial   INSTAGRAM:   / toon_raider_official   #wildtake #cartoonwildtake #saturdaymorningcartoons
