VELÁZQUEZ, LAS HILANDERAS Y LA ENVIDIA. Fernando Marías, catedrático de Historia del Arte
A lecture that introduces us to Velázquez, perhaps the greatest painter in history, and to one of his most exceptional works: "The Spinners" or "Fable of Arachne," a work of extraordinary beauty and enormous iconographic richness, with a rich and profound message. The presentation also reflects on envy, the current exhibition of the work at the Prado Museum, the criticism the artist and his work received during his lifetime, and other interesting realities, with undoubtedly valuable contributions. It was given by Fernando Marías, professor of Art History, one of the most brilliant and renowned art historians, son of the great philosopher Julián Marías, brother of the writer Javier Marías, and one of the foremost experts on Velázquez.
