How Marketing Shapes Beauty | Jennifer Quigley-Jones | TEDxInnsbruck
Marketing has the enormous power to shape and redefine beauty standards. With the rise of social media, our perception of beauty changed tremendously. Influencers using filters or edited pictures created a sometimes fake world many, especially young people, want to follow. This constructed reality can lead to a decline in self-esteem and can negatively impact mental well-being. Jennifer shares valuable insights on the (influencer) marketing industry and how social media marketing is in the process of transforming into something far more inclusive: Helping people feel represented, celebrated, and reflected in broader definitions of beauty. Marketers need to consider the impact of whom they include in campaigns and how they run them. By actively reflecting diversity and representing the varied aspects of our world, marketers can enhance people's sense of beauty both online and offline.
