Marshall 1959BJA Billie Joe Armstrong demo: Green Day's Dookie-modded tone in a master volume Plexi!
Way back in 1994, Green Day released Dookie, an influential album with a stellar guitar tone, the core of which came from a modded Marshall 1959 Super Lead. With many modding their own amps to reflect that legendary tone, Marshall has finally teamed up with Billie Joe Armstrong to launch his signature amp, meaning you can now get that tone with those mods from Marshall themselves. It seems to us that this should be the best way to achieve that Green Day sound. Pete and Si put the amp through its paces to find out. 00:00 Intro 00:53 What have we got? 01:24 The mods 01:58 Let's hear it 02:44 What we are using 03:14 Non-Green Day stuff 04:44 Clean tones 05:35 More amp info 06:10 Let's hear it again 06:42 Dookie mod lore 07:03 Price 07:19 Who's it for? 07:43 Round up
