#Bahia The first mass in Brazil took place on April 26, 1500, on Coroa Vermelha beach, in what is now the municipality of Santa Cruz Cabrália (BA). Celebrated by Friar Henrique de Coimbra, it marked the beginning of Christian evangelization in the country and was recorded in the famous letter of Pero Vaz de Caminha. The Handicraft Fair and the Coroa Vermelha Historical Landmark are located in Santa Cruz Cabrália, about 14 km north of Porto Seguro. The complex combines shopping and tourism, where the Monument of the First Mass in Brazil marks the historical site of the arrival of the Portuguese in 1500.
