American Flyer Union Pacific Big Boy 4-8-8-4. 6-48070

I’m helping my mom get organized and selling off some of my late father’s train collections so she can make repairs to her home. I didn’t think to video unboxing this thing but made this little video to better show its condition. This thing lives up to its name. It’s big and heavy and very detailed. I believe my father added the custom heat shield as I have not seen another one like it online so far. Anyways, I can’t get the thing to run. I believe I need to have the fancy controller for it which I have not found yet/ or we don’t have it. There’s several buttons and switches underneath the engine but I have not figured out what does what and I do not have an instruction book for this monster. Honestly I am pretty ignorant to the train stuff so my assumption is I don’t have it set up properly to get it to go but we will be selling this strictly as-is. I know you train bro’s are usually really good at identifying and fixing things so I will leave it up to you to figure it out. The tender makes noise and when it moves it dings. I gently pushed the engine a little and the wheels turn freely on the loco and that is about all I know about this thing. You may come inspect / test / pick it up in Maryland or I can bring it to Arlington Va m-f. I am also open to bringing it to your layout and testing it but I have not found anyone in Maryland who has one yet…….anywho, these things sell between 500-$1000+ so I am open to letting you check it out before u buy it if we can find a mutually convenient way to do so.
