Andrea decided to dedicate himself to a day of hunting completely alone. Hunting woodcock alone is increasingly complicated: managing the dogs, maximum attention, and zero margin for error. But Andrea—and Stefano, who follows him with the camera—likes to complicate things. To make things even more difficult, Andrea chooses not to even mount the Odra Cam under the barrel of his beloved side-by-side shotgun. The weather finally brings a smile: after days of rain, wind, and gray skies, the sun returns to illuminate the woods. The thrill of seeing the light again in such a wonderful setting warms the atmosphere. And immediately the first action arrives: a clear point, a nervous woodcock, an almost instinctive shot without even clearly seeing the target... and Andrea manages to land it. But the area isn't convincing. After two hours of hunting and only one encounter, Andrea decides to move. At Club Scandinavia, it's easy to do so: just a call to Domenico, and within minutes, the location of a new area arrives. That's when Cora and young Vicky take to the field. As soon as they're unleashed, the dogs are immediately on point: a "bad" woodcock stalks incessantly and won't let them get close. Shortly after, however, comes the most exciting action: a pair! Vicky beats the more experienced Cora, and Andrea manages to take one of the two woodcocks. It's immensely satisfying for him to see young Vicky beat the veteran: a clear sign that the future is promising. The excitement continues: more points, more textbook actions, and even a few inevitable pans. Andrea admits he's tired: "It's getting dark... 2-1 for her, let's head for the van." The day ends like this: intense, tiring, but full of satisfaction. And so we come to today. A fantastic day, finally, with clear skies and a renewed enthusiasm. Andrea hunts with Giovanni, a longtime friend and captain of the "Perla del Mare," a tourist boat from Lampedusa known for offering visitors unforgettable experiences—from diving, shrimp and scampi lunches, to dolphins and turtles. A genuine and captivating character, perfect for a day of hunting filled with good humor. We start with Noah, who, despite his age, proves once again that when there's a woodcock... he finds it. The first two queens of the forest, however, give us no concessions: they start off long, crafty, almost impossible to catch. Noah works with passion, but luck isn't on our side. It's time for a "Lampedusan" break: eggplants in oil made by Giovanni and a hot coffee in the heart of the forest. Simple yet precious moments that make these adventures unique. After the break, we change areas and change dogs: Cora and Vicky are back. A few minutes pass and Cora is already pointing. The woodcock takes off in front of Giovanni, but the conditions aren't safe for shooting. Shortly after, however, comes the perfect shot: a textbook shot that sparks everyone's joy. Finally, a deserved kill after hours of chasing and trying. The day continues with other breathtaking actions. A woodcock settles in the thicket; the dogs point it several times, but it turns out to be a ghost: it takes off, stalks, and sneaks in everywhere. Finally, Andrea and Giovanni, satisfied, decide to call it a day. A beautiful day: encounters, spectacular points, a woodcock in the flesh, and so many emotions. The true essence of woodcock hunting: unpredictable, challenging, authentic.
