The Universe In The Brain | A Video Essay

Today’s video’s been a long time in the making! I first wrote up the original draft for this way back in June. But now here it is!! Hope you enjoy! Or don’t. I’m not your dad. Existence is a pretty weird thing. You’re alive, but one day you won’t be. You can reach out and touch the world around you, interact with it. But it’s more than just physical touch. You experience the world around you, and you can observe, form opinions and beliefs about the world. We can do both of these things simultaneously. Or… can we? Do you ever think about where you are? Not where you are in space, but where you are in your body? You’d probably say your brain. But is your brain all there is? Are you seated anywhere else? In the neurons in your stomach? In your bladder? In your spleen? Or are you just a brain? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out my Patreon! patreon.com/user?u=35562999 My Linktree: https://linktr.ee/LightPeak -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- brain neuroscience neurology philosophy videoessay video essay mentalhealth mentalhealth depression consciousness existential existentialcrisis existential crisis existentialism Chapters: Intro: 0:00 Intelligence I: The Brain To Body Mass Hypothesis: 1:30 Intelligence II: The Surface Area Hypothesis: 2:34 Consciousness I: My "Desperate Evolution" Hypothesis: 3:51 Consciousness II: The Boltzmann Brain: 6:38 Consciousness III: The Dumb To Smart Ratio (Emergence): 8:19 Consciousness IV: The Power (And Torment) of Mental Illnesses: 9:33 Intelligence III: ChatGPT (11:34) Outro: 13:17
